Starting up

Many of you are wondering why you haven't heard from us, and it's getting very hard to remember to write everyone about what's going on with us, so we're trying a new forum. The website was chosen to be easy to remember- http://www.naplesburning.blogspot.com/ and inspired by the recent rash of trash burning that has turned our life upside down recently.

You've probably seen the news, or you can go to youtube.com and search Naples Trash Crisis to get an idea of what's going on here. We are in the process of signing a lease on a new house, and moving to an island of sanity in the sea of anarchy that is Naples.

We haven't had a chance to post the photos of our Naples Trash Experience which range from the mildly cute (trash bags tied in trees to keep dogs out of them like some bizarre disgusting fruit) to mindboggling (piles of trash 12 ft tall, 300 feet long, filled with plastics, furniture, oil, tires, appliances, etc burning with a smouldering sense of menace). It really is something that you have to see to believe, and is so bad it's forcing us to move. Thankfully there is a small oasis in the midst of this Dante'esque scene, called Monte di Procida, where we now have a house with a beautiful view of the Med and no trash in the streets. We would be proud to have you visit us here and show you the better parts of Italy we've found in this region.
